Volume Two of Captive Prince gives the Byzantines a run for their money in the intrigue stakes.
Laurent and Damen forge a better understanding (apart from Laurent still not knowing that Damon killed his brother -- although, I wouldn't be totally surprised if it turns out he knows) and the bit players are dropping like flies as the stakes get raised higher and higher with every move.
Damen accuses Laurent of treating it like a game, and Laurent tell him that it is. They are all pieces on his uncle's chess board. Luckily, Laurent can see a few moves ahead...fingers crossed.
Laurent is a viper. I love him. He needs to win this, because he's starting to come apart at the seams...
